Typhoon Muifa reaches North Korea

Typhoon Muifa made landfall over North Korea on Wednesday after plowing through the Yellow Sea and inflicting considerable damage on China and South Korea.More than ten people are reported missing.Storm destroyed more than 100 homes and dozens of buildings.

 
5.7 quake strikes SW Pakistan

A magnitude 5.7 earthquake hit southwest Pakistan early on Wednesday, the US geological service reports. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 8.3 kilometers and its epicenter was 147 kilometers southwest of Dalbandin.

 
Muifa forecast to land between NE China, NKorea
BEIJING (AP) — Typhoon Muifa has been downgraded to a tropical storm and will make landfall Monday evening somewhere between northeastern China and western North Korea, China's weather agency said.
 
Sun Packs a Double Punch

August 5 CME Update:

The initial August 2 coronal mass ejection (CME) arrived at Earth August 4 around 5 pm EDT.
The two August 3 CMEs combined, arriving at Earth August 5 around 1:20 pm EDT, resulting in a strong compression of the magnetosphere. The arrival of thisdouble-punch CME is expected to result in auroras and minor to moderate disturbances in power grids at high latitudes.

 
Earthquake Forecast Problem Being Solved In North Caucasus

An international agreement on scientific cooperation has been signed 04 august 2011 between the Global Network for the Forecasting of Earthquakes and the Dagestan Branch of the Geophysical Survey of the Russian Academy of Sciences according to which the Dagestan Republic is included in the international earthquake forecast organization GNFE as a full member.
